Library of Congress
The library acquires materials in a number of ways. Acquisitions are made through exchange with libraries in the United States and abroad; gifts; transfer from local, state, and federal agencies and from foreign governments; purchase; and copyright deposits. The library acquires most of its materials through copyright deposits, particularly in the map, music, motion picture, and prints and photographs divisions. More than 7,000 items are added to the library¡¦s collections every working day.
